Federation of Myanmar Engineering Societies

Myanmar Engineering Society (MES) was officially formed on 23rd December, 1995 at the Assembly Hall of YIT with unanimous approval of some 800 engineers and architects presented on the occasion and then formally inaugurated on the lawn of YIT on 7th Feb, 1996.

The name "Myanmar Engineering Society (MES)" has been changed to "Federation of Myanmar Engineering Societies (Fed.MES)” by the agreement and approval of Annual General Meeting of MES held on 19th January, 2019. Nowadays, Fed.MES has Seven Partner organizations at Yangon, and 27 chapters at the major cities of all states and regions around the country. We are trying to organize some activities to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of our organization since we could not able to organize the silver anniversary of Fed.MES during year 2020, due to restrictions of Covid-19.

Fed.MES has become the member of ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO) since 2000 and participated in the Mid-term meetings and Annual Conferences (CAFEO) alternately held at each member countries. This year, the 24th Midterm meetings will be hosted by VUSTA from 17th to 18th July, 2025 at Danang City, Vietnam, and CAFEO-43 also will be hosted by PTC from 28th to 30th October, 2025 at Manila City, Philippines. The official representatives and members of our organization are fully participating in all working groups and steering committees of AFEO during the midterm and CAFEO Meetings.

As participations in the international organizations, we are the Associate Member of The Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) and also the Affiliated member of World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) since 2020. As we practiced in AFEO, our executive committee members are actively participating in working committees of WFEO. We also are the member of Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Council (ACECC) since 2019. Fed. MES will be hosting the 48th Executive Committee Meeting of ACECC in Yangon, this year.

As of December 31st, 2024 we have total 67732 members and 359 Corporate Member Companies. There are 64 Technical Divisions and Multidisciplinary Committees which are trying to accomplish the objectives set by the organization. We are encouraging our chapters for establishing regional or state level Engineering Organizations as a Partner Organization of Fed.MES, which is for the sake of enhancing activities of the chapters and support to the local government activities. We put our efforts to arrange the knowledge sharing webinars under hybrid mode. We could organize the total 71 Webinar sessions during the year 2024 and we are keeping our momentum for this year as well.
